Dennis DesJardins at workDennis started making knives in 1983 while working for Beaver Knives, working under Mary Siliva. More than anything else, he got into it because he couldn't afford the knives he wanted. About a year later he decided to go out and work on his own. In 1994 he attended the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing where I graduated from "Introduction to Bladesmithing," "Damascus," and "Handles and Guards".

He specialized in Bowies, working knives, miniatures, and knives of the Mountain Man and Cowboy eras, designing functional and decorative knives from natural and recycled materials. Each knife started out as a chunk of dirty, rusty, high-carbon spring steel. Over 50 hours of pounding, carving, and file work went into every one-of-a-kind knife.

Dennis passed away in the Spring of 2003 and will be remembered with fondness.
