Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned Bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Burke's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. With the sheep horn handle, Bill's influence is clearly visible.
This dramatic blade was hand forged from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. The steel was differentially heat treated, ensuring a soft, supportive spine with a keen, long lasting edge. It is hand satin finished for an heirloom quality.
Sheep horn hand scales sit on the full tang for strength and durability. Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. The scales are set with two mosaic pins and a lanyard tube.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
