Description: Seth Lopez is a talented 23 year old bladesmith from San Diego, California. Despite being very early into his career, Seth's work is clean and well thought out. We were very excited to meet him at BladeShow 2021 and bring back some of his work for sale!
The blade on this bowie is hand forged from 80CrV2 carbon steel and features a hand rubbed heirloom quality satin finish. 80CrV2 carbon steel combines a keen, long lasting edge with durability that will perform through heavy duty tasks like chopping. Seth's maker mark is on the left side of the ricasso. The crisp raised clip and elegantly shaped ricasso easily set this knife apart.
Handle scales are made from African Blackwood secured to the frame using hand domed Argentium silver pins. Besides making a more durable, harder and more pure alloy of silver, Argentium silver is also tarnish resistant. The scales are heirloom fit, which allows them to adjust to humidity and temperature changes over time without revealing sharp corners. Fileworked copper lines surround the frame which is fileworked into a twisted rope pattern. The handle is finished with a 416 stainless steel guard and fluted ferrule.
This is an exceptional knife made by a young up-and-coming bladesmith! I have no doubt that Seth Lopez has tremendous potential for greatness.
