Description: Francois Massyn started making knives in 1989 and with the help of renowned knifemaker Fanie la Grange, he joined the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa in 1990. He currently focuses his work on IKBS flippers and developed his skills with the help of Andre Thorburn.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth, drop shut action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This is a rare left-handed folder.
The blade is hand ground N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By differentially finishing the blade, Massyn emphasized his clean grind lines.
Carbon fiber handle scales are inlaid with Lava Flow FatCarbon "bolsters". The flipper doubles as a front guard that keeps your hand from sliding forward onto the blade. The handle is completed with anodized titanium liners that elegantly contrast against the scales and carbon fiber backspacer. The anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for left-side, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout.
