Description: I was tremendously pleased to meet bladesmith Dave Skinner at the 2019 Guild Show of Southern Africa. Dave brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives. Over the last few years, his work has continued to develop a level of refinement that is found in very few knifemakers.
The blade was hand forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. 52100 is considered by many knifemakers and users to be among the highest performing steels used to make modern knives. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish followed by an antiqued acid etch.
The handle is Chacate preto (Guibourtia conjugata). This precious wood is native to South Africa. The dark brown wood has lighter interlocking grain and fine texture. The handle is contoured and provides an exceptionally comfortable grip. The brass guard is hammer textured and antiqued. A copper spacer finished the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled pouch style leather sheath is included.
Exceptional work throughout!
