Description: Daniel Winkler and Karen Shook work together to create knives that have a timeless beauty that will quickly become family heirlooms. Daniel Winkler became a full time bladesmith in 1988. His inspiration came from frontier America - a time when the equipment a person carried meant sustenance and survival. He strives to be innovative, while maintaining a recognizable style. His goal is to make tools of uncompromising quality that will last a lifetime and survive as heirlooms for future generations. Winkler had the honor of producing knives and axes for use by principal actors in the epic motion picture Last of the Mohicans. Over the last decade, Daniel's hand forged knives have become increasingly rare to come by! This small EDC knife was kept in a Mastersmith's private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition.
The drop point blade was forged from Daniel's own damascus, combining carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding. Despite only being just over 2 inches long, the blade is stout and by no means fragile. The blade is flat ground and razor sharp. The spine is hand fileworked to provide excellent thumb traction. Daniel's mark is on the base of the ricasso.
The handle is deer bone, carved with a Native pattern. At the front, the bone was then wrapped with leather for additional grip.
The sheath is handmade by Karen Shook. The rawhide is sewn around an inner pocket of deer leather. Decorative thongs are made from deer hide with antique trade beads. The sheath itself is a work of art. This sheath can be worn either on your belt or as a neck knife.
A rare chance to own a knife from a knifemaking legend.
