Description: CarlMichael Almqvist has been a knifemaker for nearly 45 years, having crafted his first knife at 15. The many years of artistry clearly show in this exceptional Nordic Hunter.
The multi-bar composite damascus blade was forged to shape by renowned Swedish bladesmith Roger Bergh. Firecracker pattern mosaic damascus edge and spine bars are forged from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels for a keen, long lasting edge. The center of the blade is formed from five bars of damascus. By forging the blade to shape, Bergh ensured that the pattern follows the shape of the upswept blade. As is traditional in Nordic countries, the blade is created by a true master of the forge, whereas the handle is created by a master knifemaker who has focused exclusively on that. This focus allows an amazing level of skill to be developed.
The handle is presentation grade snakewood (Brosimum guianense). Snakewood is a tremendously dense wood with a unique figure that immediately captures attention. The bolster is Arizona desert ironwood. The handle is completed with a mammoth ivory finial.
The accompanying Swedish sheath is matching snakewood, perfectly fit to the knife and also made by carlMichael. The sheath includes a matching snakewood display stand.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
