Description: Bob Lay's designs are well thought through and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship. Regrettably, these days, very few of his knives make it over to the US. This Utility Hunter will be an exceptional companion while out in the field, but will feel right at home in any collection.
The blade is CPM-154 stainless steel, heat treated to Hrc 58 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob shows off clean grind lines that are very dramatic. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. A small ricasso makes re-sharpening a breeze.
The handle is hand contoured bocote wood. It fills your hand and provides a comfortable grip. Alternating brass and red, white, and blue fiber spacers separate the handle from the polished brass guard. The handle is finished with a polished aircraft grade aluminum butt cap with a paracord lanyard.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath and a Cordura storage pouch.
Excellent work throughout!
