Description: Francois Massyn started making knives in 1989 and with the help of renowned knifemaker Fanie la Grange, he joined the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa in 1990. He currently focuses his work on IKBS flippers and developed his skills with the help of Andre Thorburn.
The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth, drop shut action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The blade is hand ground N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By differentially finishing the blade, Massyn emphasized his clean grind lines.
White Storm FatCarbon handle scales are set on blue anodized titanium liners. The flipper doubles as a front guard that keeps your hand from sliding forward onto the blade. The anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Exceptional work throughout.
