Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. He is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce has worked alongside some of the most prominent knifemakers in the world including Mastersmith Bill Burke. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly evident in this elegant and high performing slipjoint folder.
Both blades are hand ground CPM-154 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant. The larger blade is 2.4” long with a 2.2” edge length. The spearpoint blade is 1.6” with a 1.4” edge length.
The blades are perfectly centered and have smooth, consistent action with a firm half stop. Each blade can be easily opened using the nail nick.
Handle scales are premium ancient walrus ivory. The beautiful ivory combines caramel and cream tones that developed while buried in the permafrost for thousands of years. The scales are set on fileworked stainless steel liners using hand domed pins. The front and rear satin finished bolsters are integral to the liners for superior build strength. A stainless steel escutcheon is inlaid into the show side of the knife.
Excellent work throughout!
