Description: In 2001 the MKA board selected this design Montana Knifemakers Association club knife. Accordingly, Jim made 20 knives of this pattern combination of materials. This is #13 of 20 that were made. The knife has been a knifemaker's private collection and has been meticulously cared for. It is in new condition.
Jim is well known for his exceptional control of Damascus. The blade is forged from his version of Devin Thomas' spriograph pattern Damascus and shows off a complex pattern of overlapping lines that immediately grabs attention.
Brass fittings pull the weight back in the handle for a comfortable balance. The spalted maple handle has dramatic, black spalting lines. A slender piece of fossil mammoth ivory completes the handle. Black fiber spacers allow the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity. A comfortable knife in the hand, Jim has given this hunter/caper a good tight handle fit, pleasantly rounded. This knife comes with a tooled leather sheath. Nice work throughout!
