Description: Daniel Winkler and Karen shook create works of art that are sure to become family heirlooms. They have been a large part of defining the primitive knife movement in the United States.
This exceptional belt knife features a blade that has the spine wrapped in copper. The copper has been forged right into the Damascus and has been antiqued. The spine has been fileworked for a secure thumb purchase. The full tang and blade have been distal tapered for excellent balance in the hand. Rich toned fossil walrus ivory scales show off cream coffee tones with black. Copper pins nicely highlight the copper in the blade and show a good contrast with the walrus ivory handles. The tooled copper "bolster" is surrounded by leather thong wrap.
The sheath was created by Karen Shook. Latigo leather was hand stitched and wrapped in rawhide. The sheath features a porcupine quilled medicine wheel created by Karen. Hand painted ivory feathers and leather decorate the wheel. The sheath is finished with deer hide fringe decorated with glass beads, bone pipes, tin cones and horse hair. Exceptional work throughout!
Accompanied by certificate from the maker.
