Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the same techniques -- creating exceptional edge retention. Though the knife was made recently, Henry forged and marked the blade while he was a Journeyman Smith. Therefore, it is marked with his JS mark.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. The blade is hand satin finished. A 416 stainless guard meets perfectly to the stabilized redwood burl handle. Black fiber spacers assist the knife to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The blade has been distal tapered, resulting in an optimal balance. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
