Description: Heavin Forge, led by Mastersmiths Kevin and Heather Harvey, is well known for precision workmanship and unique designs. This hunter combines the work of Heather and Kevin Harvey, De Wet Can Zyl, Rupert Holtshausen, and Julius Maabane.
The long blade was forged to shape from 5160 carbon steel. Heavin Forge quenched the blade after coating the spine with clay. This traditional Japanese technique results in a differential heat treatment line called a hamon. This gently undulating line is the transition between the soft, supportive spine and the ultra-hard, long lasting cutting edge. The spine is fileworked for a secure thumb purchase.
The handle is sculpted from red ivory wood. Alternating red and black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. A brass guard brings the weight to the center of the knife for a comfortable and secure grip. Accompanied by tooled leather sheath. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
