Description: Mike Mann is a household name in re-enactment circles. His hand forged custom knives are created in his remote log home in the mountains of North Idaho.
This Hudson Bay knife shows his work at its best. In frontier America, during the fur trade era, the Hudson Bay Camp Knife was favored by trappers and was imported by the Hudson Bay Company from the English shops of Sheffield during the first half of the nineteenth century in fairly large quantities. This knife was used both for trade with the Indians and was used by trappers who went to the mountains in search of beaver. It was a good knife for the hunter or cook responsible for breaking down game animals.
Mike Mann's rendition was forged from 5160 carbon steel. A satin finish lends an heirloom quality. A walnut handle is detailed with antiqued brass furniture. Nice work throughout!
