Description: Bob Beaty's knives are a pleasure to hold and use. The balance is exceptional and handles are well rounded for a secure, comfortable grip.
The sturdy stainless steel blade is hand fileworked along the spine, providing a sure thumb purchase. Both blade and tang are distal tapered for especially good balance. A cryogenic heat treat makes the blade have a particularly aggressive edge that will hold its sharpness. It was heat treated to Rc 59-61 (very hard), making a knife that will stay sharp through long cutting.
California buckeye burl scales have terrific, swirling grain patterns and a nice mix of light and dark tones. Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The fit and finish, along with the fileworked spine, make this a knife that will feel at home in a collection or out in the field.
