Description: Anthony Marfione is best known for his hand ground and superbly dressed automatic knives based on popular Microtech models. He is the owner and founder of Microtech Knives, and his knack for engineering, eye for detail and ultra-precise tolerances have propelled Microtech to the forefront of the automatic knife industry.
The ADO (Alpha Detachment Operative) was inspired by the one-piece knives from Chris Reeve. Chris Reeve did not produce any hollow handled integral knives in stainless. To make an ADO, Tony Marfione starts out with 154CM stainless steel bar stock then removes everything that is not the knife itself, much like a sculptor creating a statue from a single piece of stone. The dagger ground blade features a pierced fuller which keeps the knife light and fast. The cross-guard features jimping that makes for very comfortable thumb-ramps, along with scallops below the ricasso for thumb placement on the ricasso. Positive traction is achieved through very fine knurling on the hilt. The hollow handle is the perfect place to store a spartan survival kit and is waterproof. The screw-off pommel features an embedded carbide glass breaker. Tony Marfione is known for his dramatic dagger grinds and the ADO is an outstanding example of a combat dagger.
