Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry applied a differential heat treatment to this blade using the same techniques -- resulting in a soft, supportive spine, and keen, long lasting edge.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. The spine has been rounded and the blade given a distal taper for comfort and superb balance. Jimping on the ricasso and an integral "Brute de Forge" style choil that has been nicely rounded result in an extremely comfortable grip. Perfect for a tough knife that'll gleefully tackle any cutting task!
Henry sculpted the handle for optimal comfort, swelling slightly at the palm and toward the rear. Stabilized curly maple scales have a dark, luxurious grain pattern in rich warm tones. They are set on a full tang, ensuring strength and durability. Black fiber spacers assist the maple in adjusting to temperature and humidity changes. Two mosaic pins finish the handle.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath. This is a serious field knife for the avid outdoorsman or collector!
