Description: This folder by Roger Dole has been in a private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday.
Smoothly polished giraffe bone handles scales seamlessly meet up with bolsters made from Timascus -- a damascus forged from different grades of titanium. They have been anodized to show blue and gold tones. The combination is striking.
The blade is made of BG42, which is a double vacuum melted martensitic stainless high speed steel designed for critical aerospace structural components and high performance bearings. The steel is vacuum induction melted (VIM) and vacuum arc remelted (VAR) to provide the extremely high cleanliness level required for these fatigue-critical applications. When manufactured in sheet form, BG42 has proven to be among the best steels for knives. The high wear and corrosion resistance result in knife blades which exhibit excellent edge retention and long life.
Dual blue anodized titanium liners complement the colors of the materials and ensure a strong liner lock. The blade is perfectly centered, and has a single thumb stud made from knurled anodized titanium.
An exceptional knife from a maker who's work is rarely seen on the secondary market!
