Description: This exceptional hunter is made by bladesmith Fred Ott. Fred creates knives that are tremendously unique and engaging. His carved handles are particularly dramatic examples of his work, and are among some of my favorites.
Fred created the bold, high contrast twist damascus by forging together 1080, L6, O1, and 15N20 carbon steels. By using such a wide range of steels, Fred created a blade with a wide range of grey tones. It immediately grabs attention from a distance and holds it upon closer examination. A tapered blade creates an optimal balance.
The antiqued, textured bronze guard transitions effortlessly to a single piece of exhibition grade desert ironwood. The wood is a nice mix of warm and dark tones. The conjunction of the wood's natural figure and the terraced carving results in a tremendously engaging, comfortable handle. The knife is accompanied by a goatskin wrapped basswood sheath, making it easy to keep this Carved Ironwood Hunter close at hand.
An exceptional addition to any collection!
