Description: Daryl Hibben has been making custom knives for over 25 years and he does everything in house, including making his own hand stitched sheaths. His main patterns are hunters, fighters, bowies, short swords, art and fantasy knives. He is the brother of Hall-of-Famer Gil Hibben and works as well as lives in LaGrange, KY.
This custom piece is a beauty. It has the classic "Hibben" curves and feels great in hand. This knife has been in a knifemaker's private collection since it was made at some point in the 1980s. It has been meticulously cared for and both it and its sheath are in new condition.
Daryl used 440C stainless steel for the blade, which has been brought to a mirror polished finish. The blade is upswept and is sharpened both along the primary edge and along the front of the spine. The S-guard is formed from mirror polished 416 stainless steel.
The handle is polished warthog tusk, off-white with hints of yellow. Natural grooves on the sides and top help provide a secure grip. Fiber spacers at both ends of the tusk assist with natural expansion of the material and help the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The end cap is polished as well, and carved to match the natural shape of the tusk. The finial at the end is shaped in a fully sharpened crescent and continues the fantasy them to this knife.
Here is a excellent opportunity to acquire a very unique custom piece.
