Description: Captain Koyama's designs are truly innovative. He designs and develops his knives with unique locking mechanisms that immediately capture the imagination. This one features an assisted opening mechanism controlled by the push lock at the base of the bolster. The blade is easily opened by beginning the blade's motion using the thumbstud. Once the blade is opened approximately 1/2 way, the lock mechanism takes over. To unlock the opened blade, the locking mechanism at the base of the bolster is pushed upward. This unique mechanism is easy for single handed open and close. Koyama-san calls this mechanism a Prop-Lock.
The damascus blade is formed from stainless steels forged around a VG10 stainless steel core. This combination provides exceptional edge holding and durability.
Arizona desert ironwood are set on anodized titanium liners. The liners surround a titanium backbar. Titanium bolsters are also anodized, keeping the knife light and durable.
Excellent work throughout!
