Description: Chris Reeve Knives are some of the finest semi-production knives made. The Chris Reeve Umnumzaan won the 2008 BLADE Show Award - Overall Knife of the year. The name 'Umnumzaan' originates from Zulu and is loosely translated as 'Boss'. This Umnumzaan is a rare Left Handed model.
The knife was developed from the 20+ year heritage of the Sebenza. The blade features a modified harpoon tip shape with a sway back. It features a razor sharp hollow grind. Refined design and high performance construction are all part of this folder. The titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip up carry. The thumb rest is fileworked for secure handling. The Umnumzaan is extraordinarily light for it's size due to it's titanium construction.
The blade is formed from S35VN stainless steel. This 'super steel' will have exceptional edge holding and durability.
Chris Reeve pioneered a very strong integrated locking mechanism wherein a ceramic ball creates the interface between the surface of the integral locking arm and the blade locking surface. The ball doubles to drop into a detent on the blade to ensure the blade does not open accidentally when carried.
Typical of Chris Reeve Knives, the pivot strength is more robust than you'd expect from a folder. The large pivot screw and pin are supported by large thrust washers. These perforated phosphor-bronze washers reduce friction and retain the fluorinated grease for longer lubrication, resulting in a knife with a considerably longer lifespan.
The thumb lug doubles as the stop pin, ensuring a solid lockup. Around the lug is a polyurethane O-ring that acts as a shock absorber to cushion the impact of the lug against the handle. Never wishing to copy other designs without giving credit, Chris Reeve Knives acknowledges Grant and Gavin Hawk as the origin of the shock-absorber concept in one of their many innovative designs. CRK appreciates their consent for Chris to use this adaptation of their concept.
We are a Chris Reeve Knives authorized retailer. This knife ships with its Certificate of Authenticity, blank warranty card, original box and Chris Reeve polishing cloth.
