Description: Journeyman Smith Keith Fludder resides in New South Wales, Australia. He started making knives in 1989 is now a full time maker.
Keith's knives are works of art that excel in performance. This Hamon Hunter is a perfect example of his work. The drop point, recurve blade was forged closely to shape. A traditional Japanese clay zone heat treatment results in a dramatic heat treatment line called a hamon. This undulating line is the transition between the soft, supportive spine, and the keen, long lasting edge. Filework along the spine provides a secure thumb purchase.
The presentation grade box elder burl handle is carved to swell at the palm, move into a slimmer waist, and swell again at the rounded beak. Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, tooled leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
