Description: Journeyman Smith Mardi Meshejian is one of the true innovators of artful knife designs. This knife is both creative and captivating with a playful blade that is useful and enjoyable. This folder is a perfect blend of tactical art, combining ultra-modern anodized titanium with presentation grade wood scales.
Mardi drew his inspiration for this knife from the famous kukri design. The kukri is the basic utility knife of the Gurkha people and is a fearsome cutting tool.
Mardi forged the blade to shape from 1095 and 15N20 carbon steels. The bold pattern is nicely visible from a distance. A large recurve and a convex ground edge contribute to the cutting power. The blade can be easily rotated out with one hand using the right-handed thumbstud and a liner lock securely keeps it in place. The thumbstud is a antique pocket watch winder recovered from Mardi's father's shop while he was a horologist.
The handle combines sculpted titanium with amboyna burl (Pterocarpus indicus) wood scales. The presentation grade amboyna shows figure from both the heart and sap wood, combining red and blond sections of wood. This combination is particularly rare and dramatic. The titanium liners surround a forge twisted backbar. The titanium liners, scales, and pocket clip are all anodized a bright green. The pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
