Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005. Herucus' folders combine incredibly smooth action with a high level of fit and finish.
The drop point blade is made from ladder pattern stainless damascus forged by Chad Nichols. The steel will have exceptional edge holding and is immediately captivating. The flats have been polished to a mirror, nearly eliminating the pattern, whereas the hollow grinds feature a deep etch. The combined finishes are exquisite, emphasizing the perfect, clean grind lines.
The blade is perfectly centered and has incredibly smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the discreet and ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The scales are made from very rare antique Westinghouse Micarta. They meet perfectly with bolsters formed from Chad Nichol mokume gane. The mokume, which was forged from brass and nickel, nicely complements the undulating steel in the blade. Anodized titanium liners surround a matching damascus backbar and have been hand filed into a vine pattern. The anodized 3D machined titanium pocket clip with ceramic retention ball is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
This dressed up folder from Herucus Blomerus is perfect for any occasion!
