Description: This knife was made by Seattle native, Bhakti Sa. Bhakti apprenticed under Mastersmith David Lisch. Bhakti's understanding of chef's knives is exceptional and clearly shows the influence of both Mastersmith David Lisch and Mareko Maumasi.
This chef's knife is likely to become the primary knife used in your kitchen. The deep blade gives plenty of finger clearance when working over a cutting board. The nicely arced blade has a perfect shape for an efficient rocking chop. Whether chopping onions, mincing garlic, or slicing meats, this knife will be your 'go to' knife.
Bhakti forged the mosaic Explosion pattern damascus beginning with 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. This ensures a keen long lasting edge as well as exceptional beauty! The damascus pattern is immediately captivating. The blade and bolster are made from one solid piece of damascus. Though integral knives are regularly done in production work, creating an integral bolster in a custom setting is extremely difficult and shows the maker's skill at its best.
Bhakti formed the elegantly contoured handle from a beautiful section of stabilized box elder burl. The workmanship is beautiful, and the wood chosen is gorgeous with a twisted underlying burl figure. Contours ensure a comfortable and safe grip. Alternating silicon bronze and black G10 spacers set between the handle and integral bolster assist the wood to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. By using stabilized wood, Bhakti ensures this knife will hold up well to the high demands of either a professional or home kitchen.
Exceptional work throughout!
