Description: This Willem Steenkamp custom Zulu slipjoint is a fantastic utility folder. The spear point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed and implemented.
Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives.
The 3 inch spear point blade is made from premium CPM154 stainless steel hardened to 61Hrc. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! A hollow ground blade makes for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is well centered with a firm half stop -- easily opened with the right handed thumb nick.
The gently rounded handle is made from crosscut brown Micarta. A 303 stainless steel shield is inlaid into the right side of the handle. The handle scales have been nicely domed and polished to provide a secure grip. They meet perfectly with satin finished 303 stainless steel bolsters.
Exceptional work throughout!
