Description: Neill Schutte is a spectacular knifemaker.
He is perhaps best known for his Loveless style knives, and has been making flippers for the last few years. His flippers have reached a true world class level with some of the best fit and finish as well as action to be found anywhere. He has won a stunning set of awards including Best Fighter at the 2014 and 2015 Blade Shows in Atlanta, Best Hunting Knife at the 2014 and 2016 Knifemakers Guild Show of Southern Africa, Best Boot Knife at the 2013 Knifemakers Guild Show of Southern Africa, and Best Fancy Fixed Blade, Best Knife of Show, and Best Working Fixed Blade at the 2013 Bloemfontein Knifemakers Show.
This flipper features an M390 PM stainless steel blade. It is meticulously satin finished with a long swedge and tanto point. M390 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powdered metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. The action is as good as a folder gets. It effortlessly flicks out with silky-smooth motion and falls closed once the lock is disengaged.
Lightning strike carbon fiber scales are set on blue anodized titanium liners. Thin copper wires travel through the carbon fiber. This material was originally developed by the military to deflect lightning while flying through storms. A Timascus pivot collar adds just enough flash. A carbon fiber backbar keeps the knife strong, yet extremely light. The zirconium pocket clip is exceptionally elegant. It is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Absolutely tremendous!
