Description: This is a very early example of Josh Smith's hunting knives and probably dates back to the mid 1990s. It has been in a private collection and is in good condition.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel. 52100 is considered by many knifemakers and users to have among the best edge holding of any steel. The long clip keeps the knife light. The spine has been lightly fileworked for thumb purchase. Ironwood scales are set on a distal tapered full tang. Brass and mosaic pins set the handle in place. The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath.
Quite a rare find! I've seen very few of Josh's early knives hit the market.
